What are some ideas of a homemade squirrel trap?

I used to make snares out of 20 gauge wire (maybe a little smaller) and set them along the top of a fence or vertical-wise on any hardwood tree. The basic idea is to set the snares along well-known paths used by the squirrels so they'll simply stick their head through the loop while running about their merry way. What are some ideas of a homemade squirrel trap?
there are traps available but you could use a snare so long as you kept checking it and if you require dispatch it quickly and humanly or let it go somewhere. What are some ideas of a homemade squirrel trap?

The little rats are very resilient. The approach shown here

won't eliminate the problem. To remove them from my attic I used a commercial Hav-A-Hart trap and then shot the trapped squirrel. Yes, they're cute and everything, but they're really rats with a nicer wardrobe and they carry diseases and do a ton of damage to a house.
This works, but you have to have the time to watch the trap. Use small strips of wood half an inch in width. Buld a box frame. Use chicken wire to cover each side ad the top, but leave the bottom open. Dig a hole and place one wall half way over the hole for an entrance. make sure that there is something inside that squirels will know is good food. When they finally make their way into the cage, run at the cage yelling and the squirrel will try to run. They get so confused they will not try to go out the way they came in. Then simply slide the cage away from the hole. TRAPPED!
I would suggest you go online and look. There are several web sites that give you detailed instructions, as well as a list of the actual building materials you need, to build box traps for many species of wild animals, including Squirrels..I have done this myself before.Good Luck!
