How do you trap, and dispose of squirrels ?

We must have atleast 100 between are yard, driveway, street, and now in are house. Pesty rodents !

They are now burrowing holes through the walls, because they found a entrance through a crack in the basement window.

I was laying down watching t.v. in the living room last night, and I saw what appeared to be a shadow. I figured it was just a mouse, and would disappear before I turned the light on ... but no, it was a pesty grey squirrel looking at me.

To see a mouse in the house is no big deal, but a squirrel is another story. I called the cops, and they couldn't do anything.

Should I buy those huge rat traps, to kill them ?

If I bought a trap to cage it, i'm not sure where the appropriate place would be to release it.

Is there any poison that kills squirrels ?

( i'm so sick of them, i'd much rather have them die, than to trap and release them )How do you trap, and dispose of squirrels ?
I will not be popular for my answer, but I guarantee you that my solution will work. If you have squirrels in your home you need to resolve that problem ASAP as they will damage your home beyond recognition. You need to get Havahart trap and bait it with peanut butter, peanuts, etc. Now once you trap them you need to throw the trap in a garbage pail of water....wait until the bubbles stop and you're all set. This is the only way to keep them from coming back. Many people will tell you that you can relocate them, but they will ALWAYS come back. Good luckHow do you trap, and dispose of squirrels ?
Use a Havaheart trap to catch them. that is the best way in a populated area. Once you have them, the best way to dispose of them is to eat the little bastards. They are delicious. Fry the young ones and make stew or squirrel and dumplings from the older and tougher ones. Turn them from a pain in the azz into a series of delicious meals.
I have a pellet rifle and I eat them.

Regardless of what some think I have always eaten squirrels.

It is a cultural thing, my family had squirrel anytime we could get them. Hunting and eating the game is a natural thing that most people have abandoned because all of their food comes ready to eat from the grocery store.
Kill them.

leave some radiator coolant lying around in something they can drink, it kills basically any animal,

if you have pets maybe not, as dogs etc love the sweat taste, BUT NOT FOR LONG :x

If you do trap them, release them at a local park or somewhere with plenty of trees.
I use a Mark 4 fenn trap set in a tunnel baited with eggs or corn. Trapped over 100 last summer.

The Fenn is kick plate jaw trap death occurs in seconds if set correctly!
No, please dont kill them. they dont know there right/wrong. just call the pest people/or buy cages.... and set them free on a big field full of trees.

think they'd be grateful...
them little tree rats! Used to eat a lot of them in the lower 48, now I just use them fer trapping bait.

Get a 55 gallon drum drill a hole about1 陆 foot down on each side so a wodden dowel can be slid through the barrel, then as you slide the dowel through have a paper towel roll or pvc pipe section in the barrel so that the dowel slides through it as it passes through. Coat the paper towel roll with peanut butter. Then lay a board from the ground to the lip of the barrel. The squirrel will climb up the board jump down to the peanut butter, rool off the paper towl / pvc pipe into the water and drown.

Here is the same idea with a bucket for mice;

It helps to pour some cooking oil on the water, so the tree rat gets coated with it and cant get a grip on the barrel wall. Every day scoop them out with a small fishing landing net, or too many will float and some tree rats will use them to stay afloat on.

This method works for barn rats and mice also. But be careful no little kids can climb up on the barrel. To make it child proof fasten some heavy wire fencing over it and the rat will crawl through the fence wire but kids can鈥檛 fall in.

Why don鈥檛 some tree huggers understand that any animal can become a menace? And relocating squirrels in the late fall is a death sentence because they no longer have the time to store their food for the winter. Also they are territorial and the tree rats that live where you dump some off will run them out. That鈥檚 another reason they come back.

And yes animal control trappers kill the tree rat at least every one I knew did. Drowning is far better than starvation.

And as said NEVER poison! Anything could eat that poison and die including kids. And as vangion said; they will die and rot in the most inaccessible place in your home.
I am a long time Alaskan hunter and trapper. I wish you have mentioned what state you lived in. Martin are the natural predator of squirrels - a pair of martin (called sable or mink) will eat their way through an infestion of squirels in just a few weeks.

First - squirel have awesome fur - small - but if you have enough you can make a beautiful coat from it.

You need to trap them. It is not hard. You can use a small 110 conibear trap on a branch where they run back and forth to nab them there. You can use small leg hold traps baited with Reeses Peanut Butter cups - this works best if a few days before you actually set traps you put several peanut butter cups all over. Let them taste them, and, know what to look for. Squirrels will fight to the death over a peanut butter cup....... but only if you take the time to teach them what they are.

You should be able to trap or nab 8-9 day with just a handful of traps. You can buy used ones online, or, buy new ones and then sell them online when finished. You do not have to do any fancy boiling, waxing or other prep work - simply smear peanut butter cup pieces on the trigger or plate and their little nose will do the rest.

Once you start getting them - lop off the head and paws. Pull the fur off them like a sweater and cut the vent. Leave them inside out for a day or two to dry - just be sure to reverse them before they are too stiff to reverse. If you can get more than 20 - have them all commercially tanned. If you get 100 like you say - especially if they are all related and look fairly identical and consistant - you can get big $$ for the lot.

Look at the cost of a trapping license in your state. If you really do have this many - the extra $40 is money well spent to stay out of trouble and make $500 for the furs.

If you have questions - email me.
Do not release them where they will get into some other home

It is also illegal to release them on public property or private property without written permission

Plus the fact that you will be impacting some other group of squirrels ability to survive

The squirrel will not be grateful, they're animals and lack the ability to reason that is necessary to feel gratitude

And the commandments have nothing to do with killing disease ridden vermin that chew wires and cause house fires that will kill your whole family

Use a havahart type trap near their entrance on the out side

Use Rat traps smeared with peanut butter on the inside

DO NOT POISON

Unless you want to crawl through the tightest most inaccessible areas of your house looking for the dead stinking animal

The most important thing is sealing the house up

They can come through any hole the size of a half dollar

If you call a professional (that's' me) they are going to charge you about $250 to start and up to about $2000 to seal the building

And guess what happens to that animal that they told you they were going to release in a nice wooded park, Jason knows
Please do not KILL. You can buy trap , metal , with some side doors . When animal get inside , door will close and most important will NOT KILL animal . Take squirrel to some park and relies . DO NOT KILL . Remember 10 commandments , one of them saying something about killing . Apologize for my English .
