Best way to trap squirrels?

i deer hunt on my uncles land now, and he has A TON OF SQUIRRELS. i mean a freaking ton. it sounds like a war zone in the morning with the squirrels jumping out of trees and running around.

anyway, i don't really want to go in there blasting away spooking the deer. because i get to hunt once more for the rest of the year (moms surgery...i gotta take care of her after) so whats the best way to trap them? in a way that his dogs cant get harmed by them.

thanks.Best way to trap squirrels?
Snare them;

This will not spook other game and works great, just make sure the snare has the right size loop and distance from the branch. I have caught 30 in one day doing this.

Here is a type of figure four trap Mountian Man spoke of;

They dont taste like chicken but are tasty, I like them deep fried like you would chicken legs. A corn meal batter works well on them.Best way to trap squirrels?
take some old boots and put bait into the toe of the boot, now put a the boot onto the ground where your planning to trap them and turn the boots toe up, then place a rat trap at the heel.

The squirrel needs to go over the trap to get to the bait and wham, you got a squirrel, if you really want to keep the squirrel, you should try to cushion the steel bar with some hard plastic, stops it from bruising the meat.

or you can try nailing the rat traps to the trees so the baits pointing up, the squirrel will need to set the trap to get the bait and he can't dodge well when upside down, and again, you'll get your squirrel.

these methods also work well for weasels too.

use the same cage system that is common for trapping cats. You can use nuts or other normal squirrel food for the bait. These are non lethal traps and the animal can be safely transported for relocation.----------

Check out Ray Mears on youtube. He shows how to set up a simple figure four trap in a tree that although I've never caught a squirrel in it, it works pretty sweet and easy to set up. It's one of those';why didnt I think of that'; kinda things!
I will try to explain this the best I can. My roomates and I had a squirrel problem in our yard. So we made a trap that worked every time. Here is what we did.

Make a rectangular box out of 2 X 4's. The box should be about 9 inches wide and and high and about 24 inches long. Cover the box in chicken wire (the kind with small holes). On one end of the box, you will need to leave open and build a door. mount the door with hinges so the door swings open on the inside of the box. Now on the inside of the box you will need to make a small platform that can swivel back and forth. (think of a teeter totter)

Now to use this, you will need to put a small amount of peanut butter on the platform. open the trap door and place a small piece of coat hanger from the door to the platform (this will keep the door open). As the squirrel enters the box it will go on the platform to eat the bait. this will make the coat hanger fall and the door will close behind the squirrel.

works every time.
