i have two of them' one's baited with two peanut butter crackers and some dryed corn sprinkled on. the other with a big pile of dryed corn on the bait tray...they LOVE both of them so i dont need baiting information...and theyre pretty much big enough to fit a squirrel..so i have no idea how they get out!!
ive resorted to camping outside with three sets of covers, a flash-light, fan, and a bag of partially stale lays original chips; ....in a tent, with a hollow tipped BB gun...
i thought bringing my puppy (beagle/weiner-dog/terrior) out into the tent to keep me company.. ...we got through the night without her wanting to escape and prance around the yard.. but when it hit daybreak she started barking at the squirrels!!! i managed to keep her quiet until i heard one trap go off, then i looked and it ESCAPED! :(
they keep escaping no matter what i do!
even if theyre young/small adults :(,

you probably are using too small a trap...the squirrel sized trap 1030 is actually too small. The squirrel is startled by the trap going off and jumps backwards in a flash enough for the door to not lock..the 1040, looks too big but the squirrels can't shoot backwards in time to keep the door from lockingMy havahart squirrel traps wont work -_-?
